Rotherwood Education is recruiting two dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to work full-time in a supportive secondary school in the Burnley area. These long-term positions start ASAP with potential extension.

You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, adapt activities, and work with the SENCO and teachers to help pupils access learning and build confidence. We value candidates with SEND experience, a calm, patient approach, and a commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing;

Qualifications

• Must have strong experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND in secondary settings.
• Ability to provide one-to-one and small-group support.
• Patient, calm, resilient and consistent.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Provide details of the last 2 references covering the last 5 years' work history.
• Possess a current DBS or be willing to apply for one.
• Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and required safeguarding checks.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils within lessons and adapt activities to meet individual needs.

Job description

Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for 2 dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to work on a full-time basis in a supportive secondary school in the Burnley area.

These are long-term positions starting ASAP, with the potential to extend beyond for the right candidates.

The successful candidates will have strong previous experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally within a secondary school setting. You will work closely with key pupils, providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support to help them access learning, overcome barriers and develop greater confidence and independence.

The role will involve supporting pupils within lessons, adapting activities and communication to meet individual needs, encouraging positive behaviour and engagement, and helping pupils to develop academically, socially and emotionally. You will work closely with subject teachers, the SENCO and wider school staff to ensure pupils receive consistent and appropriate support.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience supporting pupils with a range of SEND and who are confident managing challenging situations in a calm, patient and consistent manner. The ability to build positive relationships with secondary-aged pupils and adapt your approach to suit individual needs is essential.

The ideal candidate will:

Pay: £90 £100 per day, depending on experience
