Job summary

Rotherwood Education are recruiting a dedicated SEND Teacher to join a supportive school in Burnley for a fixed-term contract from January 2027 to July 2027. The role focuses on Year 7 pupils with moderate learning difficulties, delivering differentiated lessons and targeted support.

You will work with teaching assistants and the SEND team to create an inclusive learning environment, monitor progress, give feedback, and uphold safeguarding procedures and school policies.

Qualifications

• QTS or PGCE required.
• Experience teaching pupils with SEND (ideally including moderate learning difficulties).
• Ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons for mixed-ability groups.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons mainly for Year 7.
• Teach mixed-ability classes including pupils with SEND.
• Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet diverse needs.
• Break down learning into manageable steps to support understanding.
• Develop pupils' academic, communication and independent learning skills.
• Use effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive classroom environment.

Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and adaptable SEND Teacher to join a supportive school in the Burnley area. This is a full-time position running from January 2027 to July 2027, offering an excellent opportunity to support pupils with additional learning needs and help them achieve their potential.

The role will primarily involve working with Year 7 pupils of mixed abilities, including those with moderate learning difficulties. The successful candidate will be confident adapting lessons, providing targeted support and creating an inclusive learning environment that meets individual needs.

About the SEND Teacher Role

The Ideal SEND Teacher Will

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification
• Have experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally including moderate learning difficulties
• Be confident planning and delivering differentiated lessons
• Have strong classroom management and communication skills
• Be patient, adaptable and committed to inclusive education
• Be able to support pupils with a range of abilities and learning needs
• Work effectively with teaching assistants and other professionals
• Be committed to safeguarding children and young people
• Provide details of the two most recent references, covering the last five years' work history
• Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of registration
• Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy the required safeguarding and compliance checks
