Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking flexible SEND Teaching Assistants for roles in Diss and surrounding areas, starting ASAP. You will support pupils with SEND across various classroom environments, building inclusive, calm learning spaces and helping students reach their learning goals.

We offer a supportive framework through Norfolk Steps training and compliance processes to ensure high standards of safeguarding. Applicants should have experience with SEND and a willingness to obtain/upkeep Enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

• Experience working with pupils with SEND in school or care settings.
• Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with autism, ADHD, or other needs.
• Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

SEND Teaching Assistants – Supply roles in Diss and surrounding areas, starting ASAP

These flexible opportunities are ideal for SEND Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings in Diss and the surrounding areas. You will work with pupils who have special educational needs, supporting their learning and well-being in a range of classroom environments.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
• Help manage behaviour and promote a positive learning environment
• Support pupils with personal care needs where required
• Encourage independence and social interaction among pupils
• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with staff

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Previous experience working with children with SEND (school or care setting)
• Knowledge of strategies for supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, or other needs
• Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
