Job summary

Penryn Primary Academy is seeking a warm, resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join our Year 2 team. You will support a small group of pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and build independence in a collaborative, inclusive classroom.

You will work alongside year group teachers and the SENCo, delivering targeted interventions, adapting learning materials, and tracking progress to share with families and professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with diverse SEND requirements (e.g., Autism, Speech & Language needs, ADHD, or SEMH).
• Understanding of the KS1 curriculum and age-appropriate learning for 6- to 7-year-olds.
• Patience, empathy and genuine passion for unlocking potential in every child.
• Team spirit with strong collaboration with teachers, parents and external professionals.

Responsibilities

• Targeted Support: Deliver tailored interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social communication.
• Adaptive Learning: Adapt materials and tools to meet varied pupil needs.
• Emotional & Social Wellbeing: Support emotional regulation and confidence in the classroom.
• Progress Tracking: Maintain concise notes on pupil progress for teachers and parents.
• Inclusive Environment: Promote an inclusive, supportive classroom culture.
