Job summary

Penryn Primary Academy in the United Kingdom is seeking a warm, resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join our Year 2 team. You will work closely with the Year 2 class teachers and our SENCo to provide targeted, adaptable support for pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and build independence.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with diverse SEND needs.
• Understanding of KS1 curriculum and ages 6–7.
• Calm, resilient, and empathetic approach.
• Ability to work with teachers, parents and professionals.

Responsibilities

• Deliver tailored individual and small-group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social communication skills.
• Adapt learning materials, visual aids, and sensory tools to meet varied pupil needs.
• Support emotional and social wellbeing and classroom confidence using positive behaviour strategies.
• Track pupil progress and share updates with teachers, SENCo and parents.
• Promote an inclusive, encouraging classroom culture where every child feels valued.
