Job Description:

Prospero Teaching is seeking passionate, proactive, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils in an inspirational PRU setting in South Shields on a full-time basis. About the Setting:

• The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in South Shields.
• The school supports pupils across primary and secondary age ranges, with opportunities to support all year groups depending on your preference and specialism.
• The school has an outstanding supportive culture and leadership team, where staff work collaboratively within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.

Pay, Hours, and Contract:

• Pay: Between £80-£100 per day
• Hours: Full-time, contract until July 2025 (end of academic year)
• Start Date: ASAP
• Location: South Shields

About the Role:

• The role involves supporting pupils who have been temporarily excluded from mainstream schools. Pupils may display challenging behavior and have varied SEN needs.
• Support will be provided on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Pupils may have SEN such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, and PMLD.
• A key part of the role is to build rapport and positive relationships to help pupils engage with learning and progress academically and personally.
• Develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of pupils, working closely with teachers and colleagues.

Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements:

• A supporting teaching and learning or childcare qualification (desired)
• Experience working with children in UK schools
• Experience in SEN schools or PRU settings (desired)
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Resilient, proactive, and positive attitude
• Right to work in the UK
• Enhanced child DBS registered with the update service or willingness to obtain one
• Two professional references covering the last two years
