Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with varied SEN at an inspirational SEN School in Sunderland. You will work 08:30–15:30, in a permanent role, helping pupils across EYFS with different needs and behaviours, in 1:1 and small groups, under the guidance of Class Teachers.

Applicants should have a relevant Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare qualification (desirable), UK experience, right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS, and two professional

Qualifications

• Experience working with Children in Schools in the UK.
• EYFS support experience is desirable.
• S/T Learning or Childcare qualification is preferred.
• Hold Right to Work in the UK and DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with varied SEN on 1:1 and in small groups.
• Assist pupils working at EYFS level and manage challenging behaviour.
• Collaborate with Class Teachers to understand pupils' needs and learning styles.
• Support pupils including those who may be non-verbal or require personal care.

• The role is based in an inspirational SEN School in Sunderland.
• The School supports pupils across the 2-19 age range and there are opportunities to support pupils across all Primary and Secondary School year groups depending on your preference and specialism.

Pay, Hours and Contract:

• Pay - Between £95-115 per day
• Hours - 08.30-15.30
• Contract - Permanent role

About the Role:

• The role will involve supporting pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• The pupils are working at EYFS level
• The School supports pupils with a range of SEN such as varying levels of ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH
• Additionally, some pupils may be none-verbal and some may require Personal Care so a willingness to support pupils in these contexts is key.
• A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
• Experience of EYFS support (desired)

• An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
• A resilient, proactive, and positive nature

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
