Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking passionate Teaching Assistants to support the learning of pupils in a SEN School in Sunderland on a full-time basis. This is an opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term impact on their lives, progress and development.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with varied SEN, including those with ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH. Some pupils may be non-verbal and may require personal care; a flexible, proactive approach

Qualifications

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired).
• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK.
• Experience of EYFS support (desired).

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• The role will involve working closely with Class Teachers and colleagues to understand different needs and learning styles.
• Some pupils may require personal care, so a willingness to support in these contexts is key.

• The role is based in an inspirational SEN School in Sunderland.
• The School supports pupils across the 2-19 age range and there are opportunities to support pupils across all Primary and Secondary School year groups depending on your preference and specialism.
• The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a Team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.

Pay, Hours and Contract:

• Pay - Between £95-115 per day
• Hours - 08.30-15.30
• Contract - Permanent role
• Start Date - ASAP
• Location - Sunderland

About the Role:

• The role will involve supporting pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• The pupils are working at EYFS level
• The School supports pupils with a range of SEN such as varying levels of ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH
• Additionally, some pupils may be none-verbal and some may require Personal Care so a willingness to support pupils in these contexts is key.
• A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

• A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
• Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
• Experience of EYFS support (desired)

• An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
• A resilient, proactive, and positive nature

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
