Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking a supportive and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a Birmingham school. You will support students aged 16-25 with complex learning, physical, sensory and communication needs to access education and develop independence.

Responsibilities include personal care, mobility support, assisting with meals, following EHCPs and care plans, recording progress, and working closely with teachers, therapists and families to help every learner thrive.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desirable but not essential.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students.
• Ability to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Support students aged 16-25 with complex learning, physical, sensory and communication needs to access education and develop independence.
• Provide personal care support including toileting, continence care, dressing and personal hygiene.
• Assist with eating and drinking, following individual dietary requirements and hydration needs.
• Support mobility and transfers using appropriate moving and handling techniques.
• Follow EHCPs, care plans, risk assessments and behaviour/support plans.
• Observe and record students' progress and maintain confidential records.
