Axcis Education Recruitment in Saltash, Cornwall, is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school starting September 2026.

This 1:1 role supports a pupil with an EHCP, with potential to assist in the SEND classroom and collaborate with teachers to deliver inclusive lessons.

You will contribute to the pupil's learning, wellbeing, and independence, in a nurturing environment that prioritises children's development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school.
• A strong understanding of SEND, including experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
• Patient, resilient, and nurturing, with excellent communication skills.
• Able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
• Committed to helping every child achieve their potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with an EHCP.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
• Support pupils within the school's SEND classroom when required.
• Work closely with teachers, the SENDCo, and other professionals to deliver effective support.
• Promote positive behaviour, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
• Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
