Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a caring SEND Learning Support Assistant for a specialist school in Taunton, starting in September. The role focuses on enabling pupils aged 4-19 with complex needs to access a personalised curriculum in a supportive, structured environment.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, help with communication and emotional regulation, and work alongside teachers to promote independence and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND
• Ability to work 1:1 and in small groups
• Patience, compassion and resilience
• Good communication and teamwork within the school team

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
• Help students access learning and participate in school activities
• Support communication, social development, and emotional wellbeing
• Encourage independence and develop practical and life skills
• Promote positive behaviour and help pupils regulate emotions
• Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs
• Build positive relationships with pupils
• Work with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment
