Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs in Bristol schools. Immediate starts with flexible day-to-day, long-term and permanent roles are available.

You will provide one-to-one and small group support, assist the class teacher in delivering inclusive activities, and help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally, following EHCPs where applicable.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEND is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS through Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK is required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities
• Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development
• Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and independence
• Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
• Support pupils during classroom activities, breaktimes, and school outings where required
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
• Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and SEND policies at all times

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable
• Experience within a school, care, residential, youth work, or support setting is advantageous
• Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs is beneficial
• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK

• An understanding of EHCPs and individual learning needs
• A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
