Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking SEND Teaching Assistants in Bristol to support pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs. Flexible roles available across schools, with day-to-day supply, long-term, and permanent opportunities.

You will work under teaching staff, implement EHCP plans where applicable, and contribute to a safe, inclusive classroom. A patient, empathetic approach and DBS clearance are preferred, with ongoing support from our education recruitment team.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Experience in a school, care, residential, youth work, or support setting is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities.
• Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs where applicable.
• Build positive relationships to foster confidence and independence.
• Adapt resources and activities to individual learning needs.
• Support pupils during classroom activities, breaks, and outings.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities
• Support pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development
• Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and independence
• Adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning needs
• Support pupils during classroom activities, breaktimes, and school outings where required
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
• Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and SEND policies at all times

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable
• Experience within a school, care, residential, youth work, or support setting is advantageous
• Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs is beneficial
• A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK
