Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced SEND Primary Teaching Assistant to support learners in Northumberland and Newcastle. The role is long term with flexible working hours and a daily rate of £100 depending on experience.

You will work in SEND settings, assisting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language Difficulties and other learning needs. Experience with EHCPs and behaviour support strategies is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Experience working within SEND classroom.
• Experience implementing behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND in learning, communication and social development in 1:1 and small group settings.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Adapt support to meet individual learning and behavioural needs, in line with EHCPs.

I'm looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who has worked within a SEND classroom.

Ideally you will have experience supporting children with SEND including:

• Autism / ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language Difficulties, and Moderate Learning Difficulties
• A proven track record of supporting pupils with challenging behaviours in a school or alternative provision setting
• Experience implementing behaviour support strategies, de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour management approaches
• Experience working on a 1:1 basis and in small group interventions to support learning, communication and social development
• Strong understanding of EHCPs and the ability to adapt support to meet individual learning and behavioural needs
• A patient, resilient and nurturing approach, with excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
