Job summary

Premier Education Ltd is seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant for a Sandbach school. The role focuses on supporting pupils with SEMH needs, helping them manage emotions and engage with learning.

Qualifications

  • Previous SEMH experience desirable
  • Experience with challenging behaviour, trauma or attachment needs would be advantageous
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Confident managing challenging situations
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience in education, care, youth work or a similar setting
  • Two references covering the last two years of employment history
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Help pupils access learning and remain engaged throughout the school day
  • Use de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and personal development
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive choices

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Sandbach

Location: Sandbach

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full Time | Long Term

Premier Education Ltd are currently working in partnership with a supportive school in the Sandbach area who are looking for an experienced and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to manage their emotions, develop positive relationships and engage with their learning.

The successful candidate will be calm, patient and resilient, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour or struggle with emotional regulation.

Previous experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, trauma, attachment or within an alternative provision setting would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Pay

£92 - £105 per day
Dependent on experience and qualifications.
