Axcis Education Recruitment seeks a thoughtful teaching assistant for a SEND school in Reading. This full-time role requires support for pupils with various needs, and offers flexibility and the potential for a permanent position. Ideal for those with experience in SEND and a passion for fostering development.
A specialist all-through SEND school in Reading is seeking a reliable and thoughtful teaching assistant to join their team full-time from September 2025. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, with potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.
This varied role involves supporting pupils with diverse needs, including autism, SEMH, complex needs, ADHD, Down’s syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and PMLD. You will work across different classrooms and age groups, so flexibility and a calm, team-oriented approach are essential.
The school emphasizes a practical, person-centred approach to learning, focusing on communication, routine, and supportive relationships. Experience working with children or young people with SEND is essential—minimum three months in a relevant role. A TA Level 2 qualification is advantageous but not mandatory. You should be comfortable supporting personal care and adaptable to individual needs. A driving license is a bonus, as there may be opportunities involving transporting children.
If you listen well, remain steady in busy environments, and value small steps of progress, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
