Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is seeking an SEND Teaching Assistant for immediate start at a Birmingham school supporting pupils aged 4–11 with SEND. The role offers 1:1 and classroom support across day-to-day and long-term opportunities, with a clear pathway to ongoing placements.

You will work closely with teachers to help pupils access the curriculum, develop communication and social skills, and build confidence in a nurturing environment. Availability to start immediately is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Experience supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties.
• Experience supporting speech, communication and language needs.
• Confident working with primary-aged pupils.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

SEND Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £90–£120 per day

The Opportunity

The school supports pupils aged 4–11 with special educational needs and/or disabilities arising from cognition and learning difficulties.

It provides a specialist, nurturing environment where pupils receive individualised support to help them overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, communication and independence.

Due to an immediate need for additional support, the school is looking to appoint SEND Teaching Assistants for both day-to-day and long-term opportunities.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide effective 1:1 and classroom support. You will play a key role in helping pupils access their learning, develop their communication and social skills, and become more independent.
