Job summary

Long Term Futures Ltd is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a small specialist SEMH school in the NG31 area. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, assist learning across classroom and outdoor activities, and help maintain a calm, structured environment focused on relationships and routines.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, start ASAP, with a long-term to permanent contract. DBS check required or willingness to apply; training and development are offered.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people in education, care, youth work or mentoring.
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply.
  • Calm, patient, resilient and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Support emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Assist learning across classroom, outdoor and practical activities.
  • Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Follow individual support plans and contribute to progress tracking.
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, independence and engagement.

SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Grantham (NG31)
Pay: 100 - 115 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
Start Date: Asap
Contract: Long-term to permanent

Long Term Futures is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a small specialist SEMH school in the NG31 area. The school supports pupils who have found mainstream education challenging and provides a highly structured, nurturing setting with very small classes and high levels of staff support. Pupils access a blended curriculum that includes academic learning, outdoor activities and therapeutic or wellbeing-focused sessions. The approach is calm, consistent and centred around strong relationships, clear routines and personalised support.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies
  • Assist learning across classroom, outdoor and practical activities
  • Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Follow individual support plans and contribute to progress tracking
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, independence and engagement
What We're Looking For
  • Experience supporting children or young people (education, care, youth work, mentoring, coaching or similar)
  • Confidence managing behaviour in a calm, supportive and consistent way
  • Patient, resilient and adaptable approach
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
  • Applicants from sports coaching or mentoring backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply
