Job summary

Norfolk County Council is seeking SEND Teaching Assistants to support schools across Great Yarmouth and surrounding areas. You will help pupils access learning, build confidence, and work with teachers to provide tailored support in diverse settings.

Experience with SEND, ASC/ADHD awareness, and a willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS are valued. This role offers flexible supply work with competitive pay and benefits through our education recruitment partnership.

Job description

We are currently recruiting dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to support schools across Great Yarmouth and the surrounding areas.

These flexible supply opportunities are ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a variety of educational settings while making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Working across a range of schools, you'll provide valuable classroom support, helping pupils access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their individual potential.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and wider school staff to provide tailored support that meets the individual needs of pupils.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and personalised learning activities
• Promoting positive behaviour and contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment
• Supporting pupils with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
• Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support positive outcomes

We're looking for compassionate, adaptable individuals who are committed to supporting children with additional needs.

Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school, care, or similar setting

• Knowledge of effective strategies for supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and other additional needs
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
