Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support children with SEN in Dawlish and surrounding schools. The role is full-time, term-time only, with daily pay between £95 and £105 and a start date in September 2026.

You will work 1:1 or in small groups, help deliver EHCPs and behaviour support plans, promote inclusion and wellbeing, and collaborate with teachers, the SENCo, and support staff to enable students to reach their goals.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEND preferred but not required.
• Transferable experience from care/youth work or similar.
• Patient, resilient and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, adapting learning to individual needs
• Assist in delivering EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans
• Promote inclusion, independence, and positive social interaction
• Support emotional wellbeing, communication, and behaviour regulation

Pay Rate: £95–£105 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am–3:45pm

The Role:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, adapting learning to individual needs
• Assist in delivering EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans
• Promote inclusion, independence, and positive social interaction
• Support emotional wellbeing, communication, and behaviour regulation
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and wider support staff

We’re Looking For:

• Previous SEND experience (desirable but not essential)
• Transferable experience (e.g. care work, youth work, psychology, family SEND experience)
• A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A genuine desire to learn and develop within education
