Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils in Dawlish and the surrounding areas. The role offers full-time term-time hours, a daily pay rate of £95–£105, and September 2026 start.

You will work 8:45am–3:45pm, Monday to Friday, supporting pupils with SEN by 1:1 or small group intervention and assisting with EHCPs/IEPs. Training and development opportunities are provided to help you grow within education.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEND is preferred but not essential.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop in education.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, adapting learning to individual needs.
• Assist in delivering EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans.
• Promote inclusion, independence, and positive social interaction.
• Support emotional wellbeing, communication, and behaviour regulation.
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and wider support staff.
• Demonstrate a patient, resilient, and proactive approach.

The Role:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, adapting learning to individual needs
• Assist in delivering EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans
• Promote inclusion, independence, and positive social interaction
• Support emotional wellbeing, communication, and behaviour regulation
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and wider support staff
• Previous SEND experience (desirable but not essential)
• Transferable experience (e.g. care work, youth work, psychology, family SEND experience)
• A patient, resilient, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A genuine desire to learn and develop within education
