Job description

SEND Teacher – Full-Time – Exeter – September Start Location: Exeter, Devon Start Date: September 2025 Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential for permanent) Salary: MPS/UPS pay to scale Are you a qualified teacher looking for a fresh, rewarding challenge in September? Axcis Education is working with a welcoming and forward-thinking SEND school in Exeter to recruit a full-time SEND Teacher to support young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a nurturing and supportive environment where relationship-building is at the heart of everything. SEND teachers are truly adaptable, you don’t need to be a subject specialist, but you do need to be flexible, creative, and confident teaching a range of subjects at lower-level learning. Class sizes are small, and learning is often highly personalised. You might be teaching KS3 students working at a KS1 level, helping with basic literacy, life skills, or supporting emotional regulation alongside academic progress. The school follows a trauma-informed approach, so strong classroom presence, consistency, and emotional warmth are essential. You must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and be confident managing behaviour in the classroom, including using de-escalation strategies and working with teaching assistants to support regulation. Experience in a SEND, PRU, or alternative provision setting is ideal but if you’ve got the right mindset and classroom management skills from a mainstream background, we still want to hear from you. This is a chance to join a fantastic team making a real difference to young lives. Get in touch with Axcis today to find out more. INDDEV
