Job description

Axcis Education are currently recruiting for a SEND Teacher to join a specialist secondary school in Skelmersdale, starting in October 2026. This is a full-time position running for the remainder of the academic year, initially based within KS5 before moving into KS3 after Christmas. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, with the main needs being learning difficulties and autism. The successful teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible lessons, adapting learning to meet individual needs and supporting pupils to make progress both academically and personally.

Role

• Teaching pupils with learning difficulties and autism
• Initially working within KS5, moving to KS3 after Christmas
• Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons
• Adapting the curriculum to suit a range of abilities and learning needs
• Supporting pupils' communication, independence and confidence
• Managing behaviour in a positive and consistent way
• Working closely with Teaching Assistants and other members of the school team
• Monitoring progress and adapting teaching to individual needs

About You

We are looking for a qualified teacher with experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly those with autism and learning difficulties. You should be confident adapting your teaching, managing a classroom in a specialist setting and building positive relationships with pupils. Experience of working within a specialist SEND school would be advantageous, although teachers with strong mainstream SEND experience will also be considered.

Pay is negotiable dependent on level of experience and qualifications.

You will require an enhanced DBS on the update service for these positions.
