Job summary

Vision for Education are seeking a compassionate SEND Class Teacher to lead a class of pupils, covering all subjects in a supportive SEND setting in Birmingham.

The role involves designing differentiated lessons, working with teaching assistants, therapists and external professionals, and building calm, inclusive classrooms to support progress and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with PGCE/QTS/QTLS
• Experience with SEND pupils, especially those below age-related expectations
• Understanding SEMH, cognition and learning needs, communication difficulties
• Patient, resilient and creative in teaching approaches
• Strong behaviour-management skills
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

The Role

• Provide tailored learning support to enable every pupil to achieve their individual potential.
• Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons suited to a variety of students with learning abilities and needs.
• Collaborate effectively with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals to support pupil development.
• Create a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes confidence and positive behaviour.
• Monitor and evaluate pupil progress regularly, adapting teaching strategies to encourage both academic and personal growth.
• Develop strong and professional relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues to support positive outcomes.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a qualified teacher (PGCE/QTS/QTLS essential).
• Has experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly those working below age-related expectations.
• Understands SEMH, cognition and learning needs, communication difficulties, or other complex learning profiles.
• Is patient, resilient, and creative in their approach to teaching.
• Has strong behaviour-support skills.
• Can work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

To be considered for the role, you will:

• Have a suitable qualification, (QTS/QTLS essential).

• Have experience of working with children with special education needs and disabilities.
• Be confident in your abilities and skills to promote happy and confident learners.
• Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications.
