Job summary

Greenside Primary School invites applications for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our effective team. You will support learners with high level ASD and other additional needs, predominantly on a 1:1 basis and within small groups in a primary setting.

The role focuses on behaviour support, caring and nurturing approaches, with expected patience and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff. A commitment to safeguarding is essential.

Qualifications

• Preferably have previous experience of working in a school and is interested in working with children with SEND.
• Be committed to the safeguarding of children.
• Be committed to the education of children.
• Be committed to inclusive practices.
• To work as an effective team member.
• Have the ability to relate to and empathise with pupils and to develop trusting and respectful relationships.
• Effective behaviour management strategies.

Responsibilities

• Support learners on a one-to-one basis in class.
• Help within small groups of two to six learners at one time.
• Assist with social and behavioural needs throughout the day.
• Support social and learning aspects of education for all learners.
