Job summary

Five Acres High School is seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to work within the Learning Support Team. You will assist students with a range of learning, physical and emotional needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve high standards.

You will support teachers, contribute to behavioural management, and help with assessment data, PSPs and annual reviews. A safeguarding-first approach is essential.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade 5 or above.
• NVQ level 2 or equivalent TA qualification.
• Knowledge and/or training on SEMH.
• Experience with neurodiverse students.
• Experience SEMH in secondary education.
• Experience using IT to support learners.
• Experience supporting SEN in mainstream class.
• Commitment to safeguarding policy.

Responsibilities

• Work with Learning Support Team to help students access the curriculum.
• Support students with learning, physical, medical, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Promote academy ethos and values.
• Assist teachers to facilitate learning and high standards.
• Record progress and contribute to PSPs/Annual Reviews.
• Provide in-class support for identified students or small groups.
• Assist with managing the class and modelling behaviour management.
• Attend training and meetings as required.
• Prepare teaching materials and differentiate resources.
• Provide personal care if required and before/after school support.
