Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is working with a specialist SEND school in the Braintree area that is seeking a dedicated SEND Support Worker / Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

You will work closely with teachers to help pupils access learning, supporting them academically, socially and emotionally in a warm, inclusive environment.

Hours are 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday to Friday, with competitive pay dependent on experience and opportunities to develop within a supportive SEND team.

Qualifications

• Patient, caring and resilient individual with a proactive mindset.
• Experience in SEND, care, support work, healthcare, youth work or education is encouraged.
• Previous school experience is not necessarily required.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities.
• Supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
• Encouraging communication, independence and confidence.
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour.
• Assisting with personal care where required.
• Helping pupils during transitions, break times and lunchtimes.
• Following individual support plans and guidance from teaching staff.
• Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
