Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is looking for a dedicated SEND Support Worker / Teaching Assistant in Bury St Edmunds to help pupils access learning and progress academically, socially and emotionally.

You will work with teachers, support staff and a SEND team to deliver 1:1 and small group support, follow individual plans and promote a safe, inclusive classroom environment, manage transitions, and assist with personal care where required.

Job description

Location: Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am–3:15pm
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

The Role

As a SEND Support Worker / Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to help pupils access learning and make progress academically, socially and emotionally.

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities
• Supporting children and young people with severe learning difficulties and complex needs
• Encouraging communication, independence and confidence
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour
• Assisting with personal care where required
• Helping pupils during transitions, break times and lunchtimes
• Following individual support plans and guidance from teaching staff
• Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
