Job summary

Walliscote Primary School is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEND, both in-class and 1:1. The role requires calmness and patience, with potential training in personal care for children. No formal qualification is essential but Level 3 is advantageous.

The post is fixed-term for 10 months, 32.5 hours per week, term-time only, with pay between £20,300.11 and £22,331.12. Start date 2 November 2026, location Weston-super-Mare.

Qualifications

• Proactive, energetic and committed to supporting pupils.
• Calm, patient and able to comfort children when needed.
• Experience with autistic children or social communication needs preferred.
• Willingness to train in personal and intimate care for children.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in a classroom and on a 1:1 basis to aid SEND needs.
• Adapt activities and encourage positive behaviour to maintain a calm learning environment.
• Work across year groups in a vibrant, inclusive school.
