Job summary

Qualifications

• NVQ/VRQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification.
• Knowledge of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
• Understanding of emotional needs of children with autism, ADHD and attachment issues.

Responsibilities

• Setting up equipment and preparing the classroom for lessons, tidy up afterwards and help with displays.
• Providing support to children who need additional help with their work; one-to-one and in groups.
• Providing targeted interventions to help children make rapid progress.
• Helping pupils develop independent learning skills and manage their time.
• Assisting the teacher with marking and record-keeping.
• Covering the class when the teacher is absent (planned or reactive).
• Looking after children’s pastoral needs, including playground incidents and upset pupils.
• Supporting school trips, events and outings.
