Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a patient, nurturing 1-1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a friendly primary school in the BS22 Weston-super-Mare area. The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with ASAP start, providing dedicated 1-1 support to a pupil with additional needs to access class learning and stay engaged.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, help with routines, encourage independence and positive learning behaviours, and contribute to safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting.
• Calm, patient and reassuring approach.
• Availability to start immediately.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1-1 support to a primary aged pupil with additional needs.
• Supporting the child to access classroom learning and stay engaged with activities.
• Helping with transitions, daily routines and tasks throughout the school day.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
• Supporting social skills, communication and emotional regulation.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress.
• Creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment for the child.
