Protocol Education Ltd is seeking a patient, caring SEND Support Assistant to join the SEND classroom at a Primary School in the centre of Newcastle. The role focuses on helping children feel safe, supported, and ready to learn in a setting tailored to individual needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND
• Calm, positive, nurturing approach
• Build strong relationships with pupils and staff
• Backgrounds in teaching assistant roles, care work, youth work, or support work
• Experience with autism, speech and language needs, or behaviour support would be a real bonus

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils within the SEND classroom with their learning and development
• Helping children stay engaged with activities and classroom routines
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and support staff
• Supporting communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
• Creating a positive, structured environment where pupils feel safe and confident
