Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment Ltd. are recruiting SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistants to work across a range of mainstream and specialist schools in Oldbury. Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities with competitive weekly pay (PAYE only) and supportive CPD access.

You will support pupils with SEND including ASC/ADHD, SEMH needs and complex learning needs, on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them access learning and develop life skills. DBS check preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting
• A caring, patient and resilient approach
• A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
• Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work as part of a wider school team
• A willingness to learn and develop your SEND knowledge and skills
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
• Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, MLD, SLD, PMLD and complex learning needs
• Helping children access learning and engage positively within the classroom
• Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and social development
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral support teams
• Following individual learning plans, EHCPs and behaviour support strategies
• Supporting pupils with communication, sensory and additional learning needs
• Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
• Helping pupils build confidence, independence and essential life skills
