Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking SEND/SEMH Teaching Assistants to work across Redditch's welcoming mainstream and specialist schools. You will support pupils with SEND including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties and complex needs, helping them access learning and build confidence.

We offer flexible full-time and part-time placements, weekly PAYE pay, CPD training, and dedicated consultants to support your placements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting.
• A caring, patient and resilient approach.
• A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work as part of a wider school team.
• Willingness to learn and develop your SEND knowledge and skills.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, MLD, SLD, PMLD and complex learning needs.
• Helping children access learning and engage positively within the classroom.
• Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and social development.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral support teams.
• Following individual learning plans, EHCPs and behaviour support strategies.
• Supporting pupils with communication, sensory and additional learning needs.
• Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Helping pupils build confidence, independence and essential life skills.
