Job summary

TeacherActive is urgently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to support a specialist day school in Redditch, Birmingham. Immediate start available to help pupils aged 9-13 with special educational needs, focusing on communication, language and independence.

You will deliver 1:1 and small-group support, work with teachers and support staff, and contribute to a nurturing learning environment during day-to-day and long-term placements.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEND.
• Experience supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties.
• Experience supporting speech, language and communication needs.
• Confidence with primary-aged pupils.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

The Opportunity

The school supports pupils aged 9-13 with special educational needs and/or disabilities arising from cognition and learning difficulties.

It provides a specialist, nurturing environment where pupils receive individualised support to help them overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, communication and independence.

Due to an immediate need for additional support, the school is looking to appoint SEND Teaching Assistants for both day-to-day and long-term opportunities.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide effective 1:1 and classroom support. You will play a key role in helping pupils access their learning, develop their communication and social skills, and become more independent.

The Successful Candidate

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
• Experience supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties
• Experience supporting speech, communication and language needs
• Confidence working with primary-aged pupils
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
