Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a SEND school in Benfleet, Essex, seeking enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. The role involves 1:1 and small-group work, helping with learning, communication and emotional wellbeing in a safe, inclusive environment.

Applicants should have experience with SEND in education or care settings, a patient and caring approach, and strong teamwork skills.

Qualifications

Previous experience working with children or adults with SEND, whether in education, healthcare, care homes or residential settings.
A patient, caring and understanding approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
A willingness to assist with personal care where necessary.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
Support pupils with their learning, communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.
Assist with personal care and physical needs where required.
Support pupils with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies.
Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Adapt activities to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities.
Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
