Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is recruiting a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities school in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, assist with personal care where needed, and help pupils develop communication and confidence.

The role suits someone with experience in SEND, healthcare, or residential settings, a patient and collaborative approach, and a passion for making a difference in young people\'s lives.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or adults with SEND, whether in education, healthcare, care homes or residential settings.
• A patient, caring and understanding approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
• A willingness to assist with personal care where necessary.
• A relevant SEND, childcare or healthcare qualification (desirable but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
• Support pupils with their learning, communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist with personal care and physical needs where required.
• Support pupils with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies.
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
• Adapt activities to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
