Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is recruiting a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) School in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with diverse needs, focusing on learning, communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.

Ideal candidates will have SEND, childcare or healthcare qualifications (desirable) and a patient, caring approach.

Qualifications

Experience with SEND students in education, healthcare, or care settings.
Patient, caring and understanding approach.
Ability to support pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
Willingness to assist with personal care when required.
Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
Support pupils with their learning, communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.
Assist with personal care and physical needs where required.
Support pupils with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies.
Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Adapt activities to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities.
Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
