Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is recruiting a SEND Learning Support Assistant for a Benfleet, Essex-based SEND school. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASC, SLD, PMLD and other needs, helping with learning, communication and wellbeing.

Applicants should have experience in SEND contexts and a caring, patient attitude, with a willingness to assist with personal care where needed. Training and development are provided, with competitive pay and flexible working options.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or adults with SEND in education, healthcare, care homes or residential settings.
• Patience, caring and understanding approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
• Support pupils with learning, communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist with personal care and physical needs where required.
• Support pupils with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
• Work with teachers and staff to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
• Adapt activities to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
