Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated support worker to assist learners with learning disabilities at a specialist college. You will provide 1:1 and small group support, help learners access tailored activities, and assist with personal care where needed, all while promoting independence and skills development.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, professional boundaries, and collaboration with teachers and therapists to optimise outcomes for young people with additional needs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities or SEND is highly desirable.
• Experience in specialist college, SEN school, or care setting is advantageous.
• Comfortable providing personal care.
• Patient and compassionate with strong communication skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.

Responsabilités

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to learners with learning disabilities.
• Support learners to access educational activities tailored to their abilities and goals.
• Provide personal care and daily living assistance where required.
• Promote independence and life skills development.
• Support learners with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
• Encourage engagement in classroom activities and practical sessions.
• Build trusting relationships while upholding professional boundaries.
• Follow individual support plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.
• Monitor learner progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to achieve outcomes.
