Job summary

SMART Education Recruitment is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive education setting, closely supporting young adults with EHCPs. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support to help learners access learning, overcome barriers and build confidence and independence.

You will work with teaching staff and other professionals to encourage positive behaviour, participation and engagement, helping students develop practical and employability skills in a safe learning

• Patient, understanding and approachable.
• Passionate about helping young people reach their potential.
• Confident in building positive relationships.
• Calm and supportive in challenging situations.
• Reliable, proactive and adaptable.
• A strong communicator and team player.
• Experience working with SEND is desirable but not essential. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support in the classroom and wider learning environment.
• Supporting young adults with a range of additional learning needs.
• Helping students develop confidence, communication and independence.
• Supporting students to work towards the outcomes outlined in their EHCPs.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, participation and engagement.
• Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students.
• Helping young people develop practical and employability skills.
