Job summary

Engage Education is seeking a SEND Apprentice Teaching Assistant in Rochdale for the full academic year to support children with complex learning difficulties through tailored 1:1 and small group sessions.

You will be based in a Rochdale secondary school, creating a warm, engaging atmosphere, building rapport with students, and reporting to the SENCO. The role offers paid term-time days, access to CPD courses, and a potential permanent position on course completion.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in any capacity.
• Knowledge of SEN is beneficial.
• Willingness to complete a TA qualification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tailored 1:1 and small group SEN support.
• Create warm atmosphere for pupils throughout the day.
• Build rapport with students and engage them effectively.
• Communicate with colleagues and report to SENCO.

SEND Apprentice Teaching Assistant - Role Information:

• Conducting specifically tailored 1:1 & small group support for children with SEN
• Creating warm and inspiring atmosphere for children throughout school day
• Creating and sustaining meaningful rapport with students
• Communicating with colleagues and reporting to school SENCO
• Located in one Rochdale secondary school for full academic year

SEND Apprentice Teaching Assistant - Benefits:

• Paid £65 - £70 per day during term time
• Paid throughout the holiday periods
• Monday to Friday role from September 2026 to July 2027
• FREE online CPD courses across array of subjects
• Guaranteed TA qualification pending completion of 11 month course - Level 3 or Level 4
• Option to join school permanently pending course completion

SEND Apprentice Teaching Assistant - Applicant Requirements:

• Experience supporting children in any capacity
• 2026 graduates desirable
• Naturally outgoing and engaging individual with interest in teaching
• Enhanced DBS on update service desirable but NOT mandatory
• Open to full-time work beginning September 2026
