Job summary

Wiltshire College & University Centre is seeking an experienced SEND & Support Manager to lead SEND and learner support provision at the Chippenham campus. The role combines overseeing Skills for Life and Engage programmes with coordinating transitions for learners and ensuring high-quality educational outcomes.

You will work with local authorities, schools and families to plan progression, manage EHCP processes and annual reviews, and lead a team to deliver inclusive practice across the college.

Qualifications

• Experience leading SEND, learning support or inclusion services in education.

Wiltshire College & University Centre is seeking an experienced and student-centred SEND & Support Manager to lead and coordinate SEND and learner support provision at our Chippenham campus.

The role combines leadership of SEND and support services with oversight of our specialist Skills for Life and Engage programmes, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about both inclusion and education.

Working closely with Heads of Faculties/Deputy Heads, specialist coaches, academic support coaches, local authorities, parents, carers and external partners, you will play a key role in ensuring learners receive high-quality support and an exceptional educational experience from transition through to progression. The role sits within the college's developing inclusion structure and supports our commitment to removing barriers and improving outcomes for learners with an EHCP's, SEND and additional support needs.

Salary: £39,258 per year
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

What You'll Do

• Lead and manage SEND and learner support provision across the Chippenham Campus
• Provide leadership and oversight for the Skills for Life and Engage programmes, supporting high-quality teaching, learning and learner outcomes
• Organise and coordinate transition arrangements for prospective learners, ensuring a positive and well-supported move into college
• Work collaboratively with local authorities, schools, parents, carers and external agencies to ensure effective support and progression planning
• Manage and oversee EHCP consultations, ensuring appropriate assessment of need and suitability of placements
• Lead Early Reviews and Annual Reviews, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and reviews remain learner-centred and outcome focused
• Manage SEND and support budgets effectively, ensuring resources are used to maximise impact for learners
• Monitor attendance, engagement, progress, achievement and destinations, implementing timely interventions where required
• Support lecturers and curriculum teams to develop inclusive practice and remove barriers to learning
• Lead, develop and deploy support staff to ensure learners receive effective and timely support
• Ensure accurate record keeping, compliance with statutory requirements and effective use of learner support funding
• Work as part of the wider inclusion structure to support continuous improvement across SEND and learner support provision

What You'll Bring

• Experience of leading SEND, learning support or inclusion services within an education setting
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of SEND legislation and inclusive practice
• Confidence managing EHCP processes, consultations, Early Reviews, annual Reviews and high-needs funding requirements
• Experience working collaboratively with local authorities, schools, families and external agencies
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams to deliver high-quality learner support
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and statutory responsibilities effectively
• Experience using data to monitor impact, identify priorities and drive continuous improvement
• Excellent communication, partnership-building and interpersonal skills
• A learner-centred approach, with a genuine commitment to inclusion, belonging and high aspirations
