Job summary

Wiltshire College & University Centre in Salisbury is seeking a Specialist Support Coach to empower learners with additional needs within a supportive, inclusive education environment.

You will provide 1:1, small group and in-class interventions, manage a caseload, support attendance and study skills, and contribute to EHCP outcomes while helping students gain independence and confidence. A patient, empathetic, student-centred approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting individuals with additional needs in education, care, youth work, or SEN support.
  • Hold or work towards a relevant Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Patient, empathetic, and student-centred approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; safeguarding commitment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to learners with additional needs in and out of the classroom.
  • Deliver 1:1, small group and in-class interventions for ASC, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
  • Manage a caseload, supporting attendance, study skills, English and Maths, engagement and achievement.
  • Contribute to EHCP outcomes and support learner progression.
  • Help students develop independence, confidence, and life skills.
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning requirements.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to ensure student success.
  • Promote an inclusive, safe learning environment.

What We Offer

Salary: £23,247 rising to £23,734 per year (Full-time equivalent £25,304 - £25,835 per year)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time 37 hours per week, Term Time Only (36+4 weeks per year)

What You’ll Do

  • Manage a caseload of learners, supporting attendance, study skills, English and Maths, engagement and achievement
  • Contribute to EHCP outcomes and support positive learner progression
  • Assist students in developing independence, confidence, and essential life skills
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual learning requirements
  • Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to ensure student success
  • Promote an inclusive, safe, and encouraging learning environment
