Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a dedicated SENA Case Manager to join the Special Educational Needs Assessment Service. You will manage a caseload of children and young people and coordinate Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments to ensure timely statutory processes.

Working with families, schools and partner agencies, you will draft Education, Health and Care Plans and contribute to Annual Reviews, safeguarding, and high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEND, education, social care or related field with NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
• Knowledge of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and local authority responsibilities.
• Experience managing or contributing to casework involving children, young people and families.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with families.
• Ability to analyse and interpret information for clear decisions.
• Good organisational skills to manage competing demands and deadlines.
• Confidence using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Managing a caseload of SEND children and young people to ensure timely statutory assessments and plans.
• Coordinating EHCP assessments and drafting high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans.
• Interpreting advice from education, health and care professionals with family views.
• Working with parents, schools and partners to support effective communication and co-production.
• Attending Annual Reviews and progressing recommendations.
• Preparing documentation for SEND Panels, funding requests and placements.
• Contributing to mediation and SEND Tribunals.
• Maintaining accurate records and using IT systems for case management.
• Supporting safeguarding in partnership with relevant agencies.
• Working flexibly within a team to manage priorities and deliver a responsive service.
