Job summary

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is seeking experienced SEN & Behaviour Specialists to provide 1:1 tuition across Birmingham and surrounding areas, in homes, schools or community settings during school hours.

This role supports learners of all age groups with SEND and behavioural needs, delivering differentiated sessions, monitoring progress and building strong relationships with families and schools.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or behavioural needs.
  • Experience working with learners across one or more age groups.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition and learning support.
  • Support learners across different ages, abilities and educational stages.
  • Plan and deliver sessions based on individual learning needs and objectives.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to support a range of SEND needs.
  • Provide appropriate behavioural support and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Help learners develop emotional regulation, confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Use differentiated and individualised approaches to promote engagement.
  • Monitor learner progress and complete session reports.
  • Build positive relationships with learners, families, schools and relevant professionals.
  • Encourage positive attitudes towards learning and personal development.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Are you an experienced teacher, tutor or behaviour specialist with a passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is looking for dedicated SEN & Behaviour Specialist 1:1 Tutors to support learners of all age groups across Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

Tuition and support may take place in learners’ homes, schools or suitable community settings during school hours.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide personalised educational and behavioural support to learners with a range of additional needs, helping them build confidence, overcome barriers to learning, manage behaviour and emotions, re-engage with education and achieve meaningful academic and personal progress.

Pay

Competitive pay, depending on experience, qualifications, learner needs and the tuition assignment.

Working Pattern
  • Flexible part-time and full-time opportunities.
  • Sessions delivered during school hours, Monday to Friday.
  • Opportunities to support learners across all age groups and educational stages.
  • Long-term and ongoing assignments available.
  • Travel to learners’ homes, schools or community venues across Birmingham and surrounding areas may be required.

Must-Have Requirements
  • Minimum of two years’ UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or behavioural needs.
  • Experience working with learners across one or more age groups.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and learning strategies.
  • Experience using positive behaviour support and appropriate de-escalation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to travel reliably between tuition locations.
  • Right to work in the UK.
Nice-to-Have
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Behaviour-related qualifications or specialist experience.
  • Experience supporting learners with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, speech and language needs or other additional learning needs.
  • Experience working within alternative provision, PRUs, specialist schools or other SEND settings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Experience supporting learners who are disengaged from education or require personalised learning and behavioural programmes.

This role covers Birmingham and surrounding areas, with assignments available depending on learner requirements.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
