Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Tidworth, Wiltshire. The role focuses on supporting pupils with SEN, autism, SEMH, ADHD and behavioural needs, helping them engage with learning and build confidence.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, supporting staff and maintaining a calm, safe classroom environment. An Enhanced DBS is required, with updates through the DBS Update Service encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals.
• Background in SEN settings or similar environments.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, calm and positive approach when dealing with challenging behaviour.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to pupil needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
• Assist teachers to deliver accessible and engaging learning.
• Help pupils access curriculum and participate in activities.
• Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Encourage pupil confidence, independence and social skills.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Support classroom routines for a calm learning environment.
• Collaborate with teaching, pastoral and specialist staff to meet needs.
