Job summary

Smile Education is recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Evesham. The role is full-time and long-term, supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including autism and speech/language difficulties.

You will work closely with teachers to provide 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day. You will be patient, resilient and enthusiastic, building strong relationships with pupils and families while safeguarding and promoting wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
• SEN/SEND experience is highly desirable.
• Patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow individual support plans and routines.
• Willingness to undertake specialist training.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1, small-group and whole-class basis.
• Helping pupils access learning and classroom activities.
• Supporting communication and interaction.
• Encouraging independence and life skills.
• Providing emotional and behavioural support.
• Following individual pupil support and care plans.
• Assisting with personal care where required.
• Supporting educational visits and community activities.
