Job summary

Justteachers in Wisbech is recruiting a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant for a September 2026 start in a specialist provision. The role is long-term and temporary with the potential for extension, supporting pupils aged 7–18 with autism, SEMH needs and other complex needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN (ASC/SEMH)
• Strong behaviour management and a calm, resilient approach
• Ability to build rapport with pupils who may display challenging behaviour
• Proactive and adaptable to a dynamic classroom environment
• Minimum of two education or childcare-based references

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to access learning and engage in lessons
• Assist the class teacher with adapted and differentiated activities
• Implement EHCP targets and individual support plans
• Promote positive behaviour using consistent strategies and de-escalation techniques
• Work with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff as part of a multidisciplinary team
