Job summary

Sprint Education Recruitment places graduates into long-term teaching assistant roles across Birmingham, supporting students with SEN and complex needs in mainstream and specialist settings.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work 1:1 or in small groups, follow plans set by staff and SENCO, and adapt resources to help students progress at their own pace. Right to work in the UK required.

Qualifications

• Graduates, or final year students, in Psychology, Education, Health and Social Care or a related field
• Experience with children or young people, paid or voluntary
• Clear communication in a busy environment
• Progress isn't always linear and you can work at a student's pace
• Available for full-time, long-term or permanent work
• You'll need the right to work in the UK

Responsibilities

• Works 1:1 or with small groups so students can take part in lessons alongside their peers
• Follows the plans and strategies set by teaching staff and the SENCO
• Adapts resources so a task is achievable without changing the learning behind it
• Notices patterns and small changes, then reports them accurately
• Supports students through transitions, breaktimes and the less structured parts of the day
• Works alongside therapists and specialists where they're involved, and learns from them
